Canada Day Parade 2023 Fundraising Opportunity

The Canada Day Parade organizing team is seeking support from local non-profit community organizations and groups to assist with the Canada Day Parade on July 1, 2023. There are eight separate fundraising opportunities available for groups able to fulfill the requirements. Organizations may partner in order to fulfill the commitment and application requirements. 

Applicants that meet all requirements will be selected at random using an automated system. Applications are due on June 14 at 11:59 p.m. MST.  

Application Requirements 

• Be a local non-profit organization, or a group fundraising for a local non-profit organization. 
• Provide a lead contact, and a secondary lead contact for the organization to act as a liaison with the RMWB Canada Day Parade planning committee. Leads must be present for the Canada Day Parade and assist with check-in and check-out of their group’s participants.  
• Leads must attend an orientation session prior to the Canada Day Parade and provide participant names and completed waivers at the orientation session. 
• Leads are to ensure all participants are available for their scheduled start time and for the duration of the parade. The approximate end time of the Canada Day Parade is 12:30 p.m.   

*The fundraising compensation is provided to the selected organizations following the parade and completion of the service tasks. Opportunities and services tasks are outlined below. 

Available Activities

Organizations are encouraged to apply for all suitable opportunities. Only one opportunity will be awarded to each successful applicant.  

Barricade Monitors (Five Opportunities Available)  

• Fundraising opportunity is $500.00  
• Minimum of 10 participants for the duration of the Canada Day Parade 
• Start Time: 8:30 a.m. Approximate end time: 12:30 p.m. 
• Setup barricades along parade route  
• Secure parking lots and alleyways from traffic during parade 
• Take down barricades following the parade 
• Note: All Barricade Monitors must be 18+  

Safety Walkers (Two Opportunities Available)  

• Fundraising opportunity is $500.00.  
• Minimum of 10 participants for the duration of the Canada Day Parade. 
• Start time: 9 a.m. Approximate end time: 12:30 p.m. 
• Responsible to ensure the safety of spectators along the parade route. 
• Safety Walkers will be stationed along the parade route to ensure spectators remain on sidewalks. 
• Note: The Lead and Secondary Lead must be 18+. Safety Walkers must be a minimum of 16+.  

Swag Squad (One opportunity Available) 

• Fundraising opportunity is $1,000.00. 
• Start time: 9:30 a.m. Approximate end time: 12:30 p.m. 
• Minimum of 20 participants for the duration of the Canada Day Parade. 
• Handout provided Canada Day giveaway items to spectators along the parade route. Participants are expected to walk the entire parade route. 
• The group may provide a suitably decorated vehicle to follow the Swag Squad to replenish giveaway items along the parade route. Proof of vehicle insurance required. (hyperlink to insurance document).  
• Prepare swag items prior to the parade. 
• Note: The Lead and Secondary Lead must be 18+. Swag Squad participants may include youth, at a ratio of two youth (under 18) per one adult (18+).
